AL - New England Aster with Sky Blue Aster

Amanda L, Tinley Park

This 2x7 ft. garden was my first native garden. The photos below are in order of bloom throughout the season. I planted most of the plants three years ago. It has been a joy to watch this garden every year. I love watching the butterflies and native bees visit. The bumblebees were especially fun to watch this fall. I like keeping the pollinators well-fed year round so their descendants return to work in my vegetable garden. I also love seeing the birds visit and hearing their songs in the neighborhood.

Purple Coneflower with Showy Goldenrod in early September. I moved most of the Showy Goldenrod to another garden last year because it was too big for the space.
AL Tinley Park Native Garden
Sky Blue Aster with New England Aster in late September. The New England Aster was planted last year. After reading recommendations online, I cut it back 1/4-1/3 growth in June, and it grew in and bloomed magnificently this year!
