Nature World News reports that more than 50 million birds from 46 states have died since February, in the worst avian flu outbreak of all time, and the worst animal health disaster in US history. Illinois residents have been advised by the Department of Natural Resources to remove their outdoor bird feeders. Although there is little risk to humans, the US CDC advises against handling sick or dead birds.
