What is the Gardening Gathering: a casual get-together for people who are interested in talking about and learning more about growing and taking care of plants, especially those that are native to our area. This gathering is meant to bring native plant enthusiasts together to enjoy the pursuit of native gardening together. Community members will discuss topics related to gardening, get help and answers from other gardeners in the area, and learn more about native plants.

Who should attend? Anyone who is interested, there will be first-time gardeners as well as folks who have grown and tended their gardens for decades.

Some topics of conversation we will have set up at each of the tables will include:

  • Planning your plants and plantings for spring
  • Incorporating native plant species in your garden (pros and cons)
  • Choosing the right plant for the right spot (sun, soil, moisture)
  • Getting started gardening, what tools, techniques and resources should I know of as I start my journey in the backyard.
  • Starting and maintaining a kitchen garden
  • Natural pest control¬†
  • Seed Starting / Hardening Off / Planting
  • Talking to Your Neighbors / Hosting a Native Plant Block Party
