Elderberry is a fast-growing shrub with large, flat clusters of white flowers in early summer. The blooms give way to dark purple berries that are prized by birds and can be used in jams and syrups. It performs best in moist soils and full sun to part shade. Its dense growth habit also provides excellent wildlife shelter.
Our selection of native shrubs and trees are available by pre-order only from March 1 to May 15, 2026, and will not be sold at the plant sale. All native shrubs and trees are provided by Midwest Groundcovers Nursery.
Orders must be picked up at the Sag Moraine Native Plant Sale on Saturday, June 6th, between 9 AM and 2 PM CT at Moraine Valley Community College (9000 W College Pkwy, Parking Lot D3, Palos Hills, IL 60465).
All sales are final and non-refundable.
