Leadplant is a compact prairie shrub with soft, silvery-gray foliage and upright spikes of purple flowers in early summer. The blooms are rich in nectar and attract a wide range of native bees and butterflies. Deep roots make it exceptionally drought tolerant and well suited to sunny, dry sites. Its tidy form works beautifully in smaller prairie-style plantings.
Our selection of native shrubs and trees are available by pre-order only from March 1 to May 15, 2026, and will not be sold at the plant sale. All native shrubs and trees are provided by Midwest Groundcovers Nursery.
Orders must be picked up at the Sag Moraine Native Plant Sale on Saturday, June 6th, between 9 AM and 2 PM CT at Moraine Valley Community College (9000 W College Pkwy, Parking Lot D3, Palos Hills, IL 60465).
All sales are final and non-refundable.
