Little Bluestem is a classic native prairie grass with upright blue-green summer foliage. In fall, it transforms into brilliant shades of copper, orange, and red. Fluffy white seed heads provide winter interest and bird food. It performs best in full sun and dry to average soils.
Our selection of native plants in 38-plug flats is available by pre-order only from March 1 to May 15, 2026, and will not be sold at the plant sale. Flats are provided by Midwest Groundcovers through their Natural Garden Natives line and feature pesticide-free, local-ecotype native plants.
All pre-orders must be picked up at the Sag Moraine Native Plant Sale on Saturday, June 6, 2026, between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm CT at Moraine Valley Community College (9000 W College Pkwy, Parking Lot D3, Palos Hills, IL 60465).
All sales are final and non-refundable.
